We have decided to put our two parrots (cockatiel and blue headed pionus) in sleep cages. Not that winter is coming our way we want to make sure wherever the birds are they stay warm enough at night. Our house is hard to heat as we dont have central air and heating, heating through the walls instead. We have a spare bedroom upstairs we are going to put the cages in, since its much easier to keep warm than the whole bottom floor of the house.

Cockatiel will be in a 18x30 cage at night and the pionus will be in a 30x30. My question is, those who use sleep cages, what do you put in their besides a few perches. This will be out fist time using sleep cages. :grey:

I don't use sleep cages, but your solution seems appropriate for your environment. Probably a few perches, maybe a toy for comfort?

Ours just have 2 perches and 1 toy. Our macaw plays with his toy but our Amazon never does. Having them in their own room is great, I know they get their hours of sleep they need without us disturbing them. Once we put them to bed, we never hear a peep from them until we uncover them in the a.m..
