Noah - Solomon Eclectus Male
Noah is sneezing every so often. He has a very slight amount of clear discharge from his nostrils. Should I be worried?

Yes! You should be very worried...any nasal discharge indicates that something is not right...take your boy straight to an avian vet! There is no time to waste with birds, they mask and hide any illness they may have, so as to not be attacked by other birds in the wild...I dont want to scare you, and I HOPE it's nothing...but my advice would be to have him seen by a reputable avian vet. Good luck.

Eclectus sneeze for a number of reasons. The same as humans, different smells can irritate our nasal passages causing us to sneeze.

If the discharge dries up very quickly there is usually nothing to worry about. However if the problem persists & it's a daily occurrence, the discharge is running down the beak then there is time to be alarmed. Cause could be Upper Respiratory Infection & will need a Vet to check it out.

Mine will usually have a couple of sneezes when the weather changes or it's dusty. Sometimes they are a bit wet around the nares but then i don't hear any sneezes for weeks. All my eclectus live outdoors though.

Thank you for the responses! He hasn't sneezed since this morning and the discharge dried up quickly. I'll keep an eye on it.

I would just take him to the vet to be sure! That would just be the worst to have something happen to your parrot, better safe than sorry ;)

Noah update: he is doing great, no sneezing since. I spoke with his breeder and he told me they do that after drinking sometimes. Anyway, thank you all for the comments and advice, what a great community! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1354592482.306236.webp
