I am going to look at a CAG on sunday . She is only 2 hours away from me . OMgosh !! I got a cage I am picking up on Saturday . The big beautiful cage I had I threw out because I could not stand the sight of it after I lost my CAG. I have a small wire dog crate I will convert into a transport cage . I am a little beside myself . All these years after loosing my Grey I am now so anxious to meet my possible next feathered friend ! Her name is Kira she is 4 years old and has picked the male of the household as her friend the wife bought the bird for herself and because she did not take to her, she is now very timid around the bird . The hubby really never wanted the bird .Even though I am also female that does not bother me . CAG are choosy yes but if anyone shows them any fear/ unsureness it''s like game on, Baby I got your number . I already got cashews and shelled peanuts per owner she loves shelled peanuts . I will go into this meeting with Kira as calm and cool as I can . Leave my excitement at the door because CAG will not read ones excitement the same way . I am going to act like she ain't even there and offer her a treat with me standing side ways no threat just an offering . I have no way of knowing how she will react to me but I got time on my side I used to be employed in a pet store and we worked with parrots some had been wild caught ( thank god no more are taking from the wild ) the wild caught birds had been the hardest to build trust they where so shell shocked Anyway I am excited and rambling on . Cross your fingers and perhaps toes maybe by Sunday evening I will again have a CAG in my house. Gonna try to attach the pictures I was send from her .

The standing sideways thing is good.
When I first got Boo, I went and talked to a guy at UCSB who studies parrots in the wild, and he told me parrots are instinctively afraid of being stared at. That's what happens just before whatever is staring tries to catch and eat them. He suggested that when approaching a new parrot, turn my head to the side, and look at the parrot out of the corner of my eye. I've noticed it makes a difference in how quickly they relax around me.

That’s so exciting. I would bring some pine nuts, and maybe a couple other treats he might not get very often from his current owner. Cause shelled peanuts aren’t very good for parrots. The shells can have a fungus i think it is inside that is toxic to parrots plus they have only fat no nutrition. My Timneh was getting salted sunflower seeds and a whole bowl of peanuts when I first met her. She loved red grapes, pine nuts, organic craisins, and safflower seeds a lot. I also heard that if you keep your eyes wide open and bob you head up and down it means you want to play. Good luck and be patient. I just got my Amazon and being patient and remembering the basics were great advice given to me from people here. So exciting!!

I'm so excited for you! Kira is a beauty!
One of my CAGs, Merlin, was 15 when he joined our flock. He only liked the men in his previous home and took to my husband at first. He now is better with me, though.
Both of mine LOVE almonds and pistachios.
Please share pictures when Kira comes home!

Picked up the cage my friend gave me but it is rusty some spots more then others then when I read that rust is toxic to birds . I read about re- furbishing etc . I was very un easy to put Kira in some of the coating was peeling I sanded it down on those spots but the cage needs a lot more work. 1 search on my local market place came up with a brand new cage someone bought and then did not use and for an awesome price . So before I head to go see Kira I have to pick up the cage in the morning . I don't for see me not getting Kira. After all I already got her some stuff today and now a new cage . Oh yes you all defiantly will get an update hopefully with a picture of me and Kira
