Conure & Cockatiel
Hello! About a month ago I brought home Phoebe, a sun conure. She’s about 5 months old is a bit of a baby.

Sometimes she’ll have a ton of energy, she’ll climb, walk, and run around her cage while screaming. She’ll also cling to something and flap like crazy.

When I see that she has a lot of energy, I’ll offer my finger so she can come out, but regardless if whether she’s in her cage or not, I’m not sure how to get her to use all that energy.

The place I bought her from clipped her wings, so she can’t fly. I’m definitely not going to clip her once they come back in. But since she can’t fly I don’t really know how to get her to use that energy. Any advice?

Toys! Foot toys, foraging toys, climbing toys, mental stimulation toys and above all else toys for destroying! These are a must for parrots. It keeps them entertained, avoid boredom and more. If possible TV. My CAG loves anime, B&W detective, sci-fi to name a few. My CAG also enjoys old time radio drama. Look online for bird safe toys. I purchase individual items and make them. Enjoy your friend. FYI; clipped wings limits flight ability. Fear, a breeze, excitement to name a few and your bird can be lost. Birds were made to fly.

My CGCC Nelson is full of energy too. :D The suggestion about toys is a good one. Nelson has a good assortment of parrot toys and some other things to play with and chew up. Try out a few different types of toys for your sun conure to see what she likes best. You might need to show her how to play with them.

The wing flaps are good exercise too, especially good for parrots who don't fly. Nelson does some wing flaps several times a day, both to exercise his wings and to get my attention, and sometimes just to let me know that it's time for him to come out to play.
