Tommy got home before I did yesterday. I told him about the thirty day quarantine. I told him how important it is to do. I have been so diligent, they haven't been kept in the same part of the house at any given time. Well I walked in and Tommy had them both on the couch together. He told me they were lonely :20:. Mind you hes never been a bird person until now. I walked into Tommy sprawled out on the couch with Rome on his chest petting her, while Rocco was preening one of her feathers. I about had a heart attack :11:. Granted he had been at his previous home for six months and was vet checked at her place. He was the last addition at her house but still I really wanted to do things safely. :(

Awe , I'm sorry ...At least you did your best to quarantine .... And it Sounds like he came to your house in a healthy condition . Try not to worry to much about it.

At least you know they get along?

Really though if you think about it, they were already breathing the same air (assuming you have your AC on in sunny, warm florida ;) )

I wouldn't fret over it too much, honestly. There was absolutely no way I could quarantine Sugar and Loki from each other (not to mention, I had taken Loki to where she was anyway) so my Vet said that since I already knew Loki was healthy and since I brought Sugar in ASAP, not to worry about it. It's great if you can do it, but if you can't, well, you can't.

At least they were getting along! My two don't :(

Thanks guys, it makes me feel better. Yeah they are getting along at least. He is scared of her and she desperately wants to make friends. She kept telling him hello and was walking toward him with her head down. He waited until she turned her back and then he started preening one of her feathers.

Aww, that's so cute!!

Loki wanted to make friends at first and Sugar kept running away from him, she was freaked out and scared and shy. It hasn't gotten any better. But your little guy will come around, I'm sure, since he preened her feathers. He's still adjusting!

You should really scould your husband. He could have cost you not only your new addition, but also your other bird as well. Quarantine is nothing to take lightly. But if your new addition is acting and looking fine, I wouldn't be too upset about it. Hopefully it will be fine, but only time will tell.

Yeah, I have to agree, quarantine can be difficult. I guess if worse comes to worse, you'll have two birds at the vet, not just one!

I'm happy to hear that they can tolerate each other in close proximity, that sounds like a good start.

Amigo and Sassy were talking and poking at each other through the sliding glass door screen, this morning, (he was on the deck, she was on the house floor). It's as close to being sociable as they've gotten, yet. At least Amigo didn't body slam the screen, baby steps..
