Hello everyone.

I have a very old boy with high cholesterol, my vet wants me to administer milk thistle either by syringe (not gonna happen--he hates hands!!) or by putting it on/in soft foods. My immediate thought was oatmeal--the oats are good fiber & good for cholesterol, and it's nice and soft.

... Seems like he hates it, lol.

I'm going to keep trying in case he comes around, but I also want to see if I can collect some other good alternatives. I used to give him veggie & fruit smoothie, I froze it in little ice cube "blocks" and thawed it overnight, but the problem with that is it loses some of its soft/liquid consistency when it's frozen, and there's no way i'm making a nightly smoothie!! :(

Ideas?

You can try using whole grain bread to soak it up, then serve that way. The high fiber is invaluable to the cholesterol issue.

Excellent advice! I used the bread method to give liquid medicine to my GCC.
If that doesn't work you can use a tiny amount of applesauce to hid the liquid in.

Bread works for me too.
