I am just wondering if there is something i could mix with Vinnys pellets that she is currently on. At the minute i am giving her a mix which is sunflower and peanut free. It has puffed oats, fruits, coconut, some safflower seeds but no more than 10% and a few other things as well.

However she is not keen on a lot of the stuff which is in the food. I know she would be perfectly fine on the Roudybush pellets a lone but when i am away at work she like to rummage through her bowl and pick them out.

Also can they have any peanuts or sunflowers seeds at all as i am currently teaching her recall and i am giving her 1 peanut and 2 sunflower seeds as a treat for coming back to me.

Nutri berries are great, healthy tgey hold in tge foot and pick on. Tho I check daily fir dropped one to give back before get pooped on or get wet.
Why no veggies? You could leave a red chili peppers fir the day

How's recall training going? One seed is enough fir a treat at each recsll. I never give peanut, for sure nit in shell which is prone to have mold spores on.

Yea i just messaged there in my other post so sorry for explaining again lol. She does get veggies and a butt tone of them too lol. I just forget to mention this as i know it is healthy and i know that what she is eating is not bad. I only mentioned seed as i am not sure if it was ok to give her.

Also recall training is going great. She come when i call and will fly from the ground to me, up high and fly down and also come to me when i am in another room and call her. She will also do this with my mum, dad and brother too so i would say it is going pretty well.

Harness training however....well that a different story lol :18:

Awesome on recall!! I need pointers,!! Great that veggies are in the diet!!!

Lol not too sure on pointers but she always sits on top of my computer screen when I am on it. She then use to hop onto my head and i obviously didnt want that so i put my hand out and and started to say Vinny come. She pretty much just picked it up from there and it all happened within a matter of a week. I pretty much praised her for flying to me whenever and then after a while only praised the ones which i had asked for.

She is too smart for her own good haha. However it did take me a whole day to get her to even think about flying down to me on the floor as she can be a stubborn little sod.

I also did the training in the morning before work....before she had her breakfast so was then hungry and willing to fly to me to get the tasty treat haha.

Not sure what is the correct way to teach recall but this worked for me and Vinny. My others have no idea about recall and just look at me like i have 10 heads. :D

Congratulations however you accomplished it you did awesome!! What works works!!

I mix a crushed up walnut in with Saltys pellets. Keeps him interested in them all day.

My usual diet-spiel... :)

I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables! My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic. Pellets are out all day... fresh treats a few times a day. I also like Harrison's via mail because I never have to worry about out-of-date products.
Another couple of ideas...
My ol' man is an athlete and health nut. He actually EATS all the good stuff, so it's always around. I find that tossing various stuff into the food bowls at random is good... the variations and differences seem to stimulate curiosity and attention.
The other idea... if you can stand it (lol) EAT the stuff in front of the birds, yes. That encourages them. I have also found that if my ol' man eats stuff in front of the bird, the bird WANTS it for himself. Kinda a rivalry thing!

He loves green chiles, too. Worships 'em. They are great toys/treats/vitamin-laden goodies. Also, the only sure-fire way to get him in the cage is to throw one inside and in he goes after it.
