Hi folks

We have a male Eckie, nearly 2 years old.

Recently he has learnt to escape from his cage, by knocking his bowl out of the ring, followed by taking out the ring then unlatching the feeding doors. With trial and error we have now managed to foil his escape attempts but still, he persists in trying!

My issue is, he is knocking out his food and water. If left on the bottom of the cage, he eventually spills it as well. We're trying to provide toys/variety etc for him but basically, he just wants out! (Understandable of course)

Can anyone recommend a feeding/water bowl that is "spill proof"? I'm worried about him being without water/food if we are at work during the day.
I am in Sydney, Australia.

Thank you

Not aware of a specific in-cage bowls that are spill-proof. Commonly, I have seen cage feeding openings that trap the bowl while closed and releases it when the door is open.

Our Amazon just removed the bolts that held the cage together when he wanted out during the day. I assure you its much more work to reassembly the cage.

Consider additional bowls on the floor of the cage with additional food and water. Location will be important to limiting them sitting under a perch that he commonly roosts upon.

Mine are integrated with the cage and lock in place via gravity. So far Houdini hasn’t attempted to raise the hasp on the other side and I’m doubtful many birds could manage the trick. I’d recommend researching an alternate cage with suitable hardware.
