Squawking Black Cockatoo - Help needed

Is there a way we can teach our cockatoo not to squawk?

He squawks I open him up in the morning (6.30am) before I go to work, after work, but yesterday I had my sister and her fiance come over we were outside on the decking and he wouldnt shut up.

I do spend time with him after work sit down outside and chat to him...

Is there any training techniques?

Was he out with you, or could he see you from his cage? He might have just been jealous he wasn't getting any attention

As far as training, there are a few threads about training birds to make less noise (although having a chat in the morning and afternoon is perfectly normal), but the basic idea is to reward him for being quiet, and to ignore 'bad' behaviour, in this case - excessive noise.

Keep in mind too that we've now entered breeding season for black toos, so he'll naturally be a bit more chatty.

I think the only answer is to send him to me! LOL Just kidding, no advise, hope he quits being so loud.
