Yeah....The point is, the thieves took the bird without food or the cage, so either way, it is worse off... I agree, it is a bit odd in other respects...

Feel bad for the bird, but it reminds me of a lesson every young soldier learns in initial entry training..."Maintain positive control of anything you don't want stolen...if it gets taken, it's your fault." an oversimplification of lifes realities perhaps, but a mentality that has prevented nearly all theft in my life since adopting it.

Incredibly true! I don’t understand how they could have put themselves in a position for this to happen! If it was a human infant, would they have also left him in a locked car? Covered by a blanket? Only because of their pain, I held off responding to their post! They are learning a horrible lesson! Most likely, the fid flew off! He may have a chance of being taken in!

Yeah--- it just sucks that the lesson has to be learned at the expense of a living thing who was bonded to that person...and in the winter....I am really hoping that the reward motivates people to locate the poor thing and return it (I mean, money is what these people were after).

I wondered how they got the bird so easily--- either they knew what they were doing and went after it on purpose, OR maybe they just opened the cage out of curiosity when they heard it screaming? I suppose it could have been very frightened and injured itself when they smashed the glass to the car (thankfully it was covered)...
Just curious about whether the bird was what attracted them to the vehicle, or whether they maybe thought that the covered object was something else of value (like a computer or TV or something???)
The whole thing is very sad and very confusing too...I mean, why wouldn't they take the whole cage (if they were after the bird)..Then again, maybe it was too bulky and would have made it obvious...
