Stolen Macaw in Phoenix

Oh no! I so hope they find her and that she is okay:(

What a heartbreaking story. :( I hope Sunshine is returned home, particularly as she is older with special dietary needs.

No doubt they are watching swap meets and other venues that have potential for quick disposal of stolen items.

Birdnapping is one of my biggest fears. Take all my fancy electronics, all my sentimental items, my car, I don't care. Don't take my birds.

ETA: I hope sunshine comes home soon.

So cruel, hope she is returned home.

A wake up call to everyone I feel.

Indeed, this is among the reasons I have dogs. At least two, sometimes (currently) three. Dogs are recognized as one of the best deterrents. I editorialize this opinion not to critique Sunshine's home status, but rather to interject an opinion only. (FTR I have no idea whether Ms. Hamant has dogs)

When I saw this i thought the joker that took her probably saw one on a movie and thought it would be cool to have not understanding this is not a cute kitten. They are a handfull! I hope they do not just throw her out a door when she bites them. I am hoping for the best and will update if I hear anything on the news.

Any update? Did they find the bird??? If Sunshine is away from the owner for a long time it might start plucking feathers because of the stress of being away from the owner. Prayers for a quick recovery of the bird and hope the robbers get caught soon...

I have all kinds of strategies for burglar-proofing. I have a dog. Everytime I leave the house, I wave as if to people still inside (burglers want an empty house, and sometimes will watch for people to leave). I keep a Great Dane size water bowl with the name KILLER on it, filled and on the back porch. I always leave a radio on, and of course the bird has his television. I have timers that turn lights and mobiles on and off. Shrubs/etc are trimmed so as not to provide concealment around doors or windows. Plus we have a good informal neighborhood-watch.

I agree, Beatrice... anything but my bird and my dog. My ol' man can fend for himself. :)
