So Patrick has recently stopped listening to me completely. There seems to be no reason for the change.

What would cause this sudden change?

Nothing much has changed.

Not much history to go on here. How long have you had him? What species? How old? Know what i mean?

SENNIE-TUDE!

He has copped an attitude, and it's working for him.

Pretty much everyone else, not so much.

In my household, Mr. Towel would be summoned. He would wrap him up, and gently roll him over onto his back when he starts that stuff, and would give the command "That's enough."

Then the little bird would go back in his cage for a brief "time out."

I saw your other post about Patrick recently becoming fascinated at looking out the window a lot since you gave him a window perch did you say?
If that's the case, it looks like he discovered 'a reason' to not want to do other things. Like a boy who has discovered video games for the first time and doesn't want you to tell him to stop lol.

Even well trained Poi's tend to be pretty quick to bite for what can seem like every reason lol especially males. "Sennie-tude" can't be entirely stopped BUT it can be managed pretty well. Have you tried luring him to get him to do what you want by enticing him with a small treat? Safflower seed, sunflower seed, small piece of almond, or whatever you know he loves? Maybe use the window as a positive reinforcer also. A reward, not something he just gets to do. Look up threads on Positive Reinforcement... I do believe in it, but as Birdman says, sometimes they do need to meet Mr. Towel. Each situation and each individual will respond differently to different methods so you have to just try it out.

Is Patrick flighted? That's another thing. Though controversial, if nothing else seems to work for you, you might want to clip him temporarily while teaching him rules and boundaries all over again. I can see a marked difference in Griffin's behavior when he knows that he can't just go everywhere and do everything he pleases. At this time our situation warrants the birds to be in a room together, so Grifffin needs to be clipped anyway so he will stop flying to Robin's cage to torment him (I suspect that's how he got that injury and lost a toenail). Anyway, he still has a bit of the devil in him, but he's manageable when clipped and noticeably more well behaved.
