My girlfriend and I had to suddenly move out of our apartment last weekend. It was unplanned but had to be done for safety reasons. We're currently living with my parents until we're able to find a new apartment. Needless to say, the move was stressful for Guava. She had to stay in a smaller cage than what she's used to from Saturday to Monday. Her cage was too large to fit into my car, so I had to rely on a friend with an SUV. Although I brought her favorite toys and perches, I could tell she was afraid of being left alone in a smaller cage in a new home. Now, we will be leaving for the Memorial Day weekend and she's going to have to board at a local bird shop from Friday to Monday morning. We'd planned this trip months prior and had no idea that we were going to be moving the week before our trip. This is only going to add to her already stressful week, so I'm really worried about her :( This has been a tough week for all of us.

You have my sympathies. Life gets tough some times! Try not to worry too much about Guava while you're away. She may be stressed now, but some stress in life's unavoidable, and I'm sure once your life settles back down she'll be fine. It's not like birds in the wild live a stress-free life! What matters is that you're doing the bast you can for her now, and will continue to be doing so in the future.

Don't you just hate life? It gets in the way at the least opportune times! :(

I'm sorry you and Guava are going through this. I'm sure she will be just fine once everything settles down and gets back to normal again. Just make sure to reassure her.

I know how you feel for your bird. That's the reason I have to give up my CAG, too much stress from too much moving. Hope Guava will be fine and don't stressed out too much or developed temporary negative behaviors.

If you want you can board Guava at my place.

Thank you, all. She's adjusting quite well and seems to be doing fine.

Ralee, we'd already made arrangements for her to board at Your Basic Bird in Berkeley. We've boarded her there before, and she came home a happy birdy. However, I really do appreciate the offer. It's also nice to know there's another green cheek conure parront from the Bay Area = )
