A friend of mine has just put his name down for a maroon bellied conure with a local breeder and is looking for a suitable cage, so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I was wondering about the Rainforest Equador (Product)?

The bar spacing is a bit too big for such a small bird, so there would be a risk of him getting his head stuck. I can't remember now off the top of my head what the recommended bar spacing is, but definitely less than 1" or 2.5 cm.

We had our greencheeked conure in a Montana San Remo (not the mini). It's a decent enough size, and was the largest cage we could find at the time that had small enough bar spacing. :)

If you (or your friend) give Scarlett a ring, I'm sure she'd be able to recommend a nice cage, and she might even be able to order one in that's not normally in their stock. :)

If you can find one that's bigger than the San Remo, that'd be even better - the small conures are normally very active birds :)

Thanks, hadn't really thought about bar spacing. The San Remo looks good and I personally really like Montana as a make (Alice has the Heidelberg). I'll get him to give Scarlett's a ring, but if anyone knows of anything bigger with small bar spacing feel free to chip in!

Whats his price limit? Will have a mooch on Scarlets for what I think's a good cage :p

Montana Havana/Brazil/San Remo (Brazil and Havana are out of stock until after Sept tho... :() But some local stores might have preassembled cages up and ready for you, or if he can collect, ebay, etc :)

Rainforest Santa Fe/Peru

Skyline Victoria.

They're all the ones on there I'd consider. (I'd consider some more, but most other I liked have 20mm bar spacing, and I think that might be a tad too big.)

That's pretty much all in order of actual preference too.

Havana and Brazil are a bit too small for a conure, though, I think. Wouldn't go smaller than a San Remo, really :)

I would imagine £150 won't be a problem. The shop I bought my galah from have a good range in stock including so we can try there, and there's another shop within easy driving distance that sells a lot of birds, mainly aviary, that I've been meaning to visit so I'll see what they sell as well. I'm very impressed with Scarletts though, so I'd like to get them the business if they have stock of whatever he goes for.
