Hello! I brought Phoebe home about a month ago. She’s been doing really well with training so far, but she’s always kinda wary and avoidant of my hands. I know she’s new to me and everything here but it’s been a month and I thought she would at least start getting used to my hands more, but I don’t see any evidence of that.

She steps up perfectly fine, but won’t for my right hand for some reason. She’s most avoidant of my hands when she’s in a specific corner next to where I sit.

(The corner is one of the pictures)

Can I do anything that will help?

What are your expectations regarding her attitude toward your hands? Do you expect to pet her or otherwise touch her?

I aways urge owners of a new parrot to exercise patience. 1 month is not excessively long and you are going to be much better off allowing the parrot to proceed at its own rate of acceptance, rather then the rate of your expectations. This is a marathon, hopefully decades long, and not a sprint.
