We have a sun conure:orange: named "Bonnie"that we've had for about 8 months now and was just wondering what does it mean when she bob's her head up and down real fast? I'm thinking it's a good thing?

It's been a long time ago since I've owned conures....I do remember them bobbing and dancing, plus acting silly and crazy at times....

Banjo bobs his head up and down so fast sometimes that his body will "bounce" off the perch from it. We taught him to "say yes" (nod up & down / dance / bob - I've seen different people call it different things.) so he associates Millet with yes. He's so into saying yes that he says it EVERYTIME he wants something. He will be on his play perch and start saying yes if he wants treats, to be pet, or to be picked up, it's really cute.

Is it regurgitation motion or just head bobbing? My Sun does both.

My Sun Conure, Buddy, Bob's his head up and down rapidly when I'm interacting with him. I was going to ask someone if they knew what it means. I notice he does it mainly when Im talking to him and when I'm laughing and having fun with him. I'd sure like to know what they mean when they do that. It's such a cute thing to see.

There's lots of different bobbing motions when it comes to my conure Avery:

- Slowly up and down, while making herself taller = anger
- Quickly bobbing, while making "echo" noises = regurgitation
- Up and down while chattering = happy
- Sitting and bobbing = content, likely re-arranging her crop

Once you know your bird and bird behaviour better, you'll come to understand how different paces/positions mean different things.

Sheldon will bob rapidly like that when he's eating. He's actually popped himself off his feed bowl..LOL.. He fluffs oddly and bobs at others to intimidate. I dont even trust to touch him when he's like that. He'll do a bob type dance when the music is just right. And sometimes I just dont know what he's doing or what he wants..still learning. Right now he's been molting so he's a bit cranky. Not to offend anyone, but sometimes I'll call him my ADHD bi-polar bird. "just love on me...DON'T TOUCH ME!! so we love him just the same.

I don't know exactly what it means, but it's normal. In fact, my sun conure will bop his head in response to us bobbing our head, so we bob our head back and forth. I'm not sure what it is I'm communicating but it's fun.
