Today I met with a local breeder of parrots... He has a clutch of sun conures.
I have been interested in these beautiful little birds for quite some time now, but never could find a breeder. I ended up getting in contact with one. :)
The visit was wonderful. I met the guy, his wife, and all their feathered children. I met the parents of the clutch, they were super territorial obviously, but very beautiful and cute. They were puffing up trying to protect the nest and I understand they were trying to look scary but they just looked SO CUTE. The babies were just fragile little pink things! The breeder said that if I decide I want to add one to my life, I get first pick, I can visit the bird as it grows up at their home and hand feed it until it is strong and old enough to come home with me! The bird will be vet checked before coming home. The bird will be weaned before it comes home and strong enough to perch, flap its wings, etc.
I have decided that I am going to add a Sunnie to my life. My baby will be ready mid to late April.
I am very excited!!! :orange:

Congratulations! That's wonderful, I know this is the beginning of a great friendship. Enjoy the journey.

Congrats! Looking forward to hearing how all progresses with your little girl or boy growing up:)

What a great opportunity! I don't think you'll have such a problem bonding when you bring him or her home ;)

Aww...congrats! They are awesome little parrots with big personalities! You won't be disappointed! Can't wait to hear updates and see pics!

Usually you end up having the opposite problem with a conure...

Hahahaha! That is so cute :) That's just like my boy, he's a shoulder bird if I ever saw one. He has a panic attack if I leave the room-flapping and squawking until I retrieve him and take him with me.
