Usually I'm home all day, which enables me to let Jackie be out of her cage pretty much all day. Today we had to run errands and we were gone half the day, got home, Jackie got let out... I was sitting on the floor with my son and all of a sudden I hear wings flapping and then whap! there's a giant bird on the hood of my sweatshirt!! I had my husband take her off and put her back on her cage since I didn't want to take any chances of her giving me some new ear piercings. I'm not sure if she missed me or what her deal was, but it kinda made me feel a little special if getting to me was her goal lol

LOL
Yep if she wasn't being aggressive then she just wanted to be with you.
Sounds like things are going fairly well for you guys.

She wasn't being aggressive at all, but when we got home I had to focus on my son, so I didn't really have a "hello" conversation with her like normal, so I think it was like a hey! don't forget about meeeee!!!!

But yes, things are going well... I think she's becoming attached to me, and 'tolerates' my husband lol We just finished her stand/perch so now I can get her away from her cage... When she's not on her cage she's a completely different bird! If I'm sitting on the floor she climbs down her cage as far as she can go and sits there looking at me like she wants to come down and play.

Glad things are working out and she has dcided that you are her human, it only keeps getting better.

Me too :) I'm excited to see her heart open up to me.

She's also gotten used to my son's nap schedule... She'll hang out on top of her cage and take a nap too lol she rarely has outbursts during nap time, but if she does somehow my son can sleep through it -I know I couldn't sleep through her eardrum rattling zon screams! Lol. But at least we're at the point I don't have to cover their cages at nap time..

That's fantastic
It's so nice when they adjust well and you haven't had her very long yet.
We've had Bosley for six months almost and the level of trust and bond just keeps growing. He keeps opening up more and more and I'm sure Jackie will too!!!

It is nice! but she has a dark side as well... She gets aggressive when I change her food/water dishes, so I have to be strategic about it in order for me to not get bit!

In time that will probably change, Bosley wasn't all too pleased in the beginning, Now I think I could crawl into his cage and he wouldn't get upset. Just keep being strategic and the more you bond with her the more you will be able to do with her.
Now that the stand is built it will be easier for you!!!

Ok, I'm hoping it will... I was thinking maybe she's afraid I'll take away her food and not give it back -her previous owner had alzheimers, so there may have been days where she forgot to feed them.

I was able to get her on the stand for a few minutes; she did step up and step down **without biting** a few times each, then I have her a treat, some love words, and left her alone.

Perfect, you earn her trust that way.
You're doing awesome.
