Sushi, our femme fatale SI Ekkie
Well, after a week of some health scares, Sushi seems more perky! Her diet has improved literally 100% and as I type this, she is in her cage, head burried in some okra and corn. She's been bathing herself every other day & happily jumping out of her cage whenever we walk into her room:) It seems like her eyes have a little smile in them now!

She even went out on our deck with us for the first time on the 4th, munching on some black bean salsa. For the majority of the day she's out on her pirate playstand in the living room, which she just loves. I'm so happy she's been feeling better and been putting on some weight! Sushi seems so much healthier now:)

Here's a video of her eating a peanut; we thought it was pretty neat how smart she was to move her peanut over to the bowl when she couldn't hold onto it any longer:)

OH! The bald patches around her eyes that were there when we first picked her up are now starting to fill in!!

I'm glad she's doing better. I forgot how beautiful she is. She's definitely a girl, my guy wouldn't think to save his peanut. lol

I'm glad she is doing better, and sorry to be a kill joy but peanuts aren't good for eclectus give her almonds instead :)

Yeah, peanuts aren't my first choice for her treats. She's only gotten a few--my fiance is obsessed with anything peanuts, so he loves to give her some:/ She's such a little flirt, she'd do anything to please him. But maybe I'll hide the peanuts haha

was peanut in shell?? sorry think i read that theres something in the shell that can cause breathing problems?

Im glad to hear she's doing better!!!! :)

It's some kind of fungus or nasty that they can inhale the spores of (I think). It's always better to be safe then sorry anyway! :)

She is beautiful... they are so smart... I love the way she get all 3 out and then takes them to the bowl...
Abby does that with her pellets.... she will get several of them and drop them in her water bowl let them sit to soften and then eat them.

I just took Abby to her Avian Vet and I ask about peanuts in the shell. She said I could rinse them (to make sure all dirt is gone) and them put them in the oven for a few minutes to dry them out... just like you do with pine cones and they should be ok.

I'll have to try that:) Sushi doesn't really like peanuts all that much; her favorites so far are: okra, grapes (which she entirely skins some how), rice cakes, corn, tuna, and peas.

awww thanks for that cow :) as nut loves peanuts but i've always shelled them for her!

ok mnsalani you will have to get a vid of that grape peelin lol

I've never seen her do it; but there will just be empty grape skins all at the bottom of her cage after I give her some. It's really strange! She just skins them and eats the flesh inside some how!!
