Sweaters for Fids?

It's a Chilly month and more to come and have been having an urge to make a sweater for my Fid to keep him stylish and warm, Like those that I have made for my teacup dog Patches, Will it be a hazard in any way, or is it an all go? The sweater of course will have sockets for his wings to sprout through, Hist tummy is always shiverring when hes out of his cage.

Making a sweater for your bird would not be a good idea. The bird would get stressed from having such and unnatural item on plus if you were to put "sleeves" or whatever on it I would imagine it would restrict it's flight ability if not making it compleatly impossible. If you are truely worried about your bird getting cold you could always buy a happy hut or a birdie buddy which is like the happy hut but it is more of something that can hang on the cage by a perch and the bird can snuggle up to it.

I know few people who use birdy sweaters, but only because it helps break plucking habbits. I am not too sure it would be a good idea to use one otherwise. Parrots can be in temperatures as low as 63 degrees Farenheit, or around 15 degrees Celcius, and I assume your house is not that cold. If it is, you should consider purchasing a bird safe space heater.

Hmm, Good thing I asked here first then Glad to know it's unsafe. So will look into happy huts, and no need for sweaters afterall. Thanks for feedback, If i have anymore question in bird related I will always come here first.

I know when I got my birds they had a happy hut in their cages and they seemed to love it. I've been thinking of buying one for their cage since I brought them home.

Hum, it's starting to sound like a must have item for Fid owners, When a happy hut is purchased how does one make the bird comfortable and is there a way to make one homemade? My bird is shy of new enviroments, so hard to break in new toys.

I do not recommend happy huts, especially if you have smaller birds like cockatiels, lovebirds and budgies as it cause chronic egg laying which will eventually lead to death. I suppose it's all right for larger bird though.

I used to have one in Levi's cage(Levi's a Linnie)...and it caused him to be cage aggressive. I removed it, placed in in his window(he hangs out a lot there), and it's fine. He loves it!

Hum, well PePe's cage aggresive as it is, so if I do end up installing a happy hut I will monitor his actions for the first 24 hours to see if it is fit.
