Eyes are critical. Issue's with them are serious , and must be taken to an avian veterinarian for help. Birds won't show it but they feel eye pain just like you would! Eyes are sensitive!

I hope your baby gets help abd heals up quickly. Keep us updated

My Emerald had a swollen eye that got cured. The quicker you get the medication, the faster the healing.

Our avian vet prescribed.....
Eye drop
Pain killer
Antibiotics

The explanation in our case, was that the nose got blocked due to common cold. So the build up pressure went to the closest point, leading to swollen eye.

So when we hear Emerald sneeze, we immediately give her first aid.....

.... stop her taking shower in the morning
....keep warm
....give soft easy to digest food like boiled egg, steamed fish, boiled pumpkin, banana 🍌
.....put a new pot of fresh basil near her perch to play with
.....eye drop for itchy allergy eyes

All this stop her from sneezing. And prevent the build up pressure from reaching her eye.

I have 1 budgie, He is a male both. I have been looking into getting an Eclectus Parrot tho.
Have you done a bit of looking around to see if she scratched it on something like her cage, toys, food bowls ect?

If it started with a scratch it probably started with his Roommate, another lovebird

I cant think of anything else, do you think it is the eye itself that has swollen?

could be a tear gland i suppose but having your bird cheeked by your bird vet is a great idea.

This can be how infection looks. The infection is in the eye. Membranes can also move up to cover the infection . It us nit something we or you can help, its something you need a veterinarian for

The bacteria affect the conjunctiva, the membrane surrounding the eyes, causing the tissue to swell and become irritated. As the infection spreads, the bird can become completely blind. Starvation quickly follows if not treated.

Hi, I see what you’re talking about. At first, I thought it was a stye but looking at pics closeup I think that you’re seeing a bunch of mucus and exudate covering an irritated place on his eye. I bet that hurts. If he scratches or rubs it you’ll have a bigger problem.
yes, I’d take my bird to an avian vet. If this problem spread you could end up with an eye infection or systemic infection and a blind or dead bird.
You have to be very careful giving eye medications to a bird. Since they are so tiny, eyedrops can affect them systemically. It’s not something you want to try without veterinary assistance.
