Hi Folks,

Thank you for your replies to my earlier posts. It helped me a lot.

I am here with another question about a young English/Show budgie. He is around 50 days old.

His Flight feathers are not fully developed. He can fly but has no control over his flight/landing.

Should I clip his wings(as I would not like him getting hurt). If yes, whether he would be able to fly when his feathers grow back? He is kind of hand trained...perches easily on my finger.

Adding his photo for gender recognition and likes :)

Thanks,

Aint nobody replying today ?

Don't clip his wings too young, or it will affect his flying while growing up. I would clip his wings when he has full control over where he lands and takes off. Yes , his feathers will grow back after the next molt.

Patience, grasshopper, patience. :)

I wouldn't clip his wings either, especially if he hasn't even mastered the art of using them yet. :)

He's (or she) is sure pretty!!!

As for gender, I am clueless. The cere still looks REALLY pink to me.

beautiful bird! but dont clip the wings until he/she has learned to fly perfectly cause if you clip them now it could cause flying problems later on when his feathers grow back in good luck with your gorgeous baby.

Hehe.. I was too concerned :) thnx for the reply!

Also after how many months can I clip his wings. As its tough summer for me now and our ceiling fan is on like 24/7 and windows are pretty open for ventilation too. I don't want him to get hurt in anyway. Just want to clip some of his wings so that he cannot reach the fan and can land safely :). I just got him a week before, so he is kind of new member to my family.

P.S: He can fly, but is poor in navigation, but he is a smart budgie and is learning day by day.

he should learn to fly well soon and then you can clip them.

When you take the budgie out, make sure they are no hazards. Which means that the ceiling fan is off, windows closed , ect... Th reason you only clip a birds wings when they have completely control of the wings is that clipping too young can make bird not know how to fly. If you are worried, just make sure there are no hazards , I'm sure your fid will soon master the art of flying :)

thnx..and i'll make sure that no harm occurs...:)
