my bird used to be tame till i forgot to pay attention daily. i would pay attention to her one day but not the next:eek: oops!! i started by taking out her perch swing with a mirror cuz my friend got a bird and he said he tamed it without including the mirror he said they could fall in love with it and '' protect it'' by biting and she would bite me HARD!! i took it out and i thought it was plenty for the day since it was like 5:00 when i got home from swimming. So i left her getting used to it. btw how do u post pics? Any advice would b gr8!!:D

i am really worried that i can do no more for her!!:( plz help!!

Well first of all, what type of bird is it? Also was the bird originally hand reared. Yes it is best to avoid mirrors when keeping tamed birds. If the bird is too old now, it may be really difficult to return to the original tame state, however if the bird was originally hand reared, with much time and effort, it is possible to re tame the bird. If the bird was originally aviary bred, this may be very difficult or next to impossible to do.

i got her at petsmart and tamed her from there, and she is a parakeet. not hand reared. when i got her, she was too young to tell gender but cere is pinkish and shes blue, white, and black if that helps if my gender is incorrect

Just keep giving her attention daily . We don't know her age since she is still to young to know . When it starts growing you'll see the cere changing colors , determining which gender it is ,

Thx Birdlover11 and can u guys tell me how to post pics so I can update u?:o

Birdlover11 is right. With Budgies, from a young age they can be easily tamed. Just lots of handling and attention should get the bird used to you. If it is still quite young and showing a pinkish coloured cere than its not too late at all. Run the bird through you hands, slowly opening your hand up until you get to the point where the bird will just sit on your finger. I find this is the best way to tame down budgies. It will also be good if you clip the birds wings, just during training atleast, so there are no accidents. As for posting pictures, I am not quite sure, I ve never done it myself. Hopefully a moderator or someone can inform us how to do this, I am sure there is a page on the help section of this forum. And please do keep us updated with images. If you can post a clear picture of its cere, I may be able to sex it.

IF you upload your picture to photobucket, view the picture and copy the direct link. In your reply box here, there's a picture icon on top of your reply window. click on it and paste the link within then click ok, then click post. The picture should load in here!

Thanks Luke252 and Mikeytn! I gotta pic of our progress as well as the cere.

Cute bird! Like the other members said, she is still young so you should still be able to tame her :). Just talk to her and spend time giving her treats through the bars of her cage. You can also clicker train her. Above all input equals output, the effort you put in will go a long way in determining what you get out. Just don't give up and you'll have a new friend in no time :0)

If the cere is pink, you have a little male!!!!

If the cere is white, you have a little girl!

Here's a blog with a good video in it!
