Hey guys,

Thought i would show you my 3 boys today!

Very proud of how they are all going :D

For those who don't know about the K's, they are all black, 17hh amazing geldings..

Kyros- Warmblood:

Kitai- Thoroughbred:

Today was the first time Kitai has been ridden in 2 months, and he had only been ridden for a week, after having 12 months off!

So i was incredibly proud of what an amazing boy he was today!

Klaatu- Clydesdale x:
Just the baby, has only been ridden for a short time so still learning

Today was the FIRST time Kitai has jumped in a year and a half.. He flew over them.. Jumped a little too high, and my position was terrible, but still! haha

This was 1m

Klaatu's second time ever jumping

Kyros jumping 1.2m

and lastly!

Eating with their matching rugs..

As if they don't look similar enough, they have to have the same rugs to confuse everyone even more haha

I love their matching rugs, they just look like pajamas haha <3

Nice looking horses, but it sounds like it was as much a refresher for you as practice workout for them ! ! !

Haha :p I ride 6km every single day on Kyros, so the flatwork was perfect for them all, no refreshing for me there.. It was just the jumping styles which amaze me and made me think.. ;)

You would assume they just jump over the jump all the same.. But goodness me, they all have such different styles that i have to adjust to! :o

It just takes up soo much time training each- Brushing, saddling, warming up, riding, unsaddling, washing, rugging, feeding..
It was easy just riding Kyros, and then Klaatu started coming into work, and that was ok.. But now Kitai is in full work, I might have to start waking up at 4am just to do all the training :p haha

They are all going to a little showjumping competition this sunday.. So that will be interesting :D

Oh goody....we're in the presence of the 'headless' rider AGAIN. :09: Sorry, couldn't resist. ;) You are much too pretty to continuously cut off your head for us, Tab!

LOVED the photos! I'm beyond thrilled with Kitai! My gosh, remember how afraid you were that you may actually lose him?

Can't wait to hear about the comp this weekend coming up. How awesome that you can take all 3 of them? :D

Thank you for the big smile, Tab! It's great to see The K's doing so well. It must have been so exciting to let Kitai jump again! Wow! They look great in their pajama rugs, even if I can't tell who's who. The K's fans will need a full report and lots of photos after the competition this Sunday.

Actually Tab, you're quite an impressive young woman, given the agendas you've set for yourself & the tasks you've undertaken.....probably wouldn't surprise me to see your name posted for PM of Australia somewhere in the future.....

HAHA ! Have you ever realised that when you are showjumping, you make the funniest faces? Look at all the professional showjumpers, in every picture, they have a funny face

It is amazing about Kitai, he has come such a long way.. Definitely showed all those vets and farriers how well he could heal! :D

Very excited about sunday, i will have lots and lots of photos for you :09:

In the baby rounds there are only about 10 people.. and the bigger rounds there are only about 20.. So Kitai, Klaatu, and Kyros will all verse each other in the baby round and we will see who wins ;)

Hahaha mum said their pajamas look like bananas in pajamas ;) :09:

You might just have to visit us and then you can study who is who and meet them in person! In person they look very different, pictures make them look similar!

Thank you :o I think it is just because Iprefer to spend my time training animals and studying university, rather than going out with friends and partying, so the consistent work with everything has paid off!

Hmm, maybe not PM ;) But I am going to the Paramedics Australia conference this saturday, so I suppose that is quite businessy of me :54:

I was reading the paramedics magazine/newsletter the other day... There was a new advert for type of stretcher being released... I was so excited, it looked even cooler than the stryker.. I showed mum and she just laughed.. I realised it is amusing, that a 19 year old girl gets excited over a new stretcher release! :o

At least she never has to worry about me doing the bad things in life! :09:

It is so much more fulfilling to have meaningful interests than to waste your youth on nonsense, isn't it? Horses were my first love, but family circumstances prevented that from being something attainable for me. I was able to work on a ranch for 5 summers, but have always felt I ride like a sack of potatoes. I envy you a little to be honest. However, parrots and dogs are such joys to me, and I rest in the fact that I would have had to choose between my horse and the man I married, if I had had a horse, and that I avoided that pain.

I guess that is kind of off topic, but I am impressed by the range of your skills and interests :) sounds like you had a scare with one of the horses? I am truly happy to hear that he is recovering!

I think that is the reason my mum has bought me all these animals.. When i was 4 years old i got my first pony.. and my dad hates horses, so he didn't see why mum has bought me horses growing up.. But mum says 'I would rather her to be riding horses, than out doing drugs or drinking'.. :)

Horses are the hardest to fit into lifestyles! Very costly.. I am lucky we have acreage.. The cost to agist horses is insane!

Haha it probably helps if you have ridden your whole life... It is like learning a new language, if you start as a child, you are able to learn easier and get the talent for it, where as if you start when you are older, even a teenager, it is so much more difficult!

Riding on a ranch you would have just used a western or a stock saddle?

It helps having a dressage saddle, it gets your legs in the correct position, and then you just remember your mother telling you 'SHOULDERS BACK... BACK STRAIGHT... HANDS STILL.. ARMS BENT... KEEP YOUR SHOULDERS BACK! ' ;)

So now it is just like second nature, sitting up nice and tall ! That is the one thing i always get commented on at shows and by judges, my posture is always straight..

Does your husband not like horses? That is what might be difficult for me.. I assume no man is going to have the same passion for birds and horses like I do.. however I assume it wouldn't affect anything, as long as he just puts up with them ;)

Kitai was an ex-racehorse, we bought him basically straight off the track, he had finished racing, and then was just in a paddock resting, so he had no prior educating apart from gallop!

He started getting upset when ridden, and then went lame, we got x-rays on his hooves to find that his pedal bone (hoof bone) had been basically eaten away with infection because they hadn't cared for him when it was infected..

He had no sole to his hoof, and the bone was 2mm from coming through the hoof wall because the bone had also kind of rotated a little bit down!

So he saw about 4 different vets, 5 different farriers, and it was all over the place with a diagnosis- He will never be ridden again.. He can be ridden but never jump.. He has to be put down..

So.. We took him to the experts.. The university equine vets.. He was a very famous case at the clinic ;)

All the farrier students would look at him as well haha

So, he got corrective shoeing, and had these pads placed under his shoes..

The vets said if he doesn't improve in 6 weeks, he has to be put down!

This had been going on for about 2-3 months.. and it was so upsetting watching him, he couldn't even walk normally he was in so much pain! But all these vets and farriers kept trying different things which weren't working!

This was november..

Anyways, 6 weeks later his hoof had grown, his sole had thickened.. They couldn't believe it..

They said to do another 6 weeks of the correctional shoeing...

and so now, 10-11 months later? He has PERFECT hooves! :D

Of course the bone will never regrow to the correct shape..

But his hoof has grown a very thick sole, and the normal shape they should be.. :)

He will always have pads under his front hooves, just for extra support though

They all said he is a fighter!

We rode in various styles of western saddle. While a dressage saddle would have been great for learning, it would be completely unpractical in a ranch setting - there is a reason every part of the saddle is the way it is. My mother is afraid of horses, as is my father more or less, and it grew up in a tiny house in town pinching pennies until they bled to make the money stretch and get food on the table, but it would have sold a kidney for actual riding lessons. I still would, in fact. My husband likes horses, but he is in he army, so we move very often (by the time we have been married 6 years we will have lived in 4 places, including Hawaii where we are now) so it is simply not within our budget to be sure we can board a horse, much less the expenses of shipping one to and from Hawaii! I hope to own one someday when he retires, and by then riding lessons should be something we can afford no problem. I will be a grey haired lady in a class with kids!

My husband is a dog lover through and through but he is a softy. When it comes time for a horse, I will simply take him to meet it, and have him feed it a treat. When it gives him attention looking for more treats, he will decide he loves it and ask if we can keep it. It basically works like that :p

That is really awesome you guys spent the time and money to make absolutely sure you tried everything for your horse. A lot of respect for that. We have a puppy who was attacked by another dog, the emergency vet said he would die and we should put him down. He survived, and $4k later in surgeries he is as happy as can be. I am sure he appreciates we didn't take the vets advice

Thank you Jasper!!

It amazes me how many people buy horses and then sell them if they have a slight issue.. The vets said he would never be ridden, and alot of owners would have just sold him on!

But my three K's are my life, they aren't just a horse, I love them more than i should :o

I have cried many many times over him ;) So it is great that he pulled through it all!

A cheap ex-racehorse, has had easily over 5000 dollars worth of vet appointments :p

That is great news about your puppy!! I am sure he very much appreciates what you did for him! :)
It is lovely seeing people do so much for their animals..

There was a news story today about a couple in Australia who spent 5k on their goldfish to have surgery.. Not sure if it is true or not.. But they sure must love their goldfish!

Bit of a story- When i was younger ( 9 years old) we had 2 dogs, and one day they just decided to fight, very weird.. and I came to the rescue of course.. Stuck my hand in, and they didn't realise that i was there, so i got 2 lovely puncture marks into my hand

Still have the scars.. Which reminds me that I should not stick my hand into the mouths of 2 dogs fighting :54:

There's those beautiful triplets!! And look at them- all matching in their jammies :D

How about you come to the states and put our cremello quarter horse in her place LOL

I can't wait to see pics and results from Sunday's competition!!! Good luck! [emoji173]️

POWER ON, Tab!!!

The 3Ks are a credit to you and all the work you've put into them! I so love the matching jammies! Everyone, Tab wrote on facebook 'Are you thinking what I'm thinking, K1?'... 'I think I am, K2'. Just like the Bananas in Pyjamas. LOLOLOLOL! You should get them yellow lycra sweat suits to go under the pyja- I mean, rugs. Better yet, get someone to make you yellow lycra hoods. That would be hilarious!!! :D :D :D

Our Chippy hasn't fared as well as Kitai. His pedal bone is badly eroded and even though his hoof has grown back, there's not enough suspension in the hoof to call him sound. He'll be wearing pads on his front hooves forever too! Weird how they both had similar injuries at around about the same time. Anyway, my DEAR sister has trotted off and gotten yet another horse. It's a big fat quarter horse mare called Paris. OMW. A mare. And this one is exceedingly marey! She squeals! We'll see what comes of that.

The baby, Reuben, is still as naughty as. He greets my sister every morning on his hindlegs and threatens to do brain surgery on her head wiv 'is widdle feetses. It was kind of cute when he was only tiny, but he's going on fourteen hands now and it's not that funny atall! My DSis has already had one horse-hoof through her silly head - she really doesn't need another. I think I've mentioned to you before: my sister is channelling Toad of Toad Hall when it comes to horses.

Now, don't you forget to let us know how the comp goes on the weekend! I'm betting Kyros, Kitai and Klaatu in that order. How about you, Tab?

Hahahahaha Shirre I am completely over training difficult horses.. ;) Kitai put me at wits end after a while when he was going through his week of being stubborn, and Klaatu went through his testing stage of giving a little buck of excitement before transitioning to canter..

Now both boys are over their little issues and I can finally relax and they are very well behaved hahaha

You ride Kitai, and Klaatu, and you really have to concentrate, every single thing you do affects them because they are both new with everything...

Hopped on dopey Kyros this afternoon, and I am just like oh thank goodness, lets just go for a trail ride and gallop along stretches ! :p

HAHAHA Trish :D Mum and I were sitting next to each other, when mum commented- Bananas in pajamas..

and i just cracked up laughing and said to her- Are you thinking what i am K1, i think i am K2..

and mum burst out laughing... and then Sam was like.. I don't get it -_-
hahaha

Have you seen those lycra full body suits?!?! Which cover their legs as well  Those three would tear them to shreds in a day! :p

Oh my gosh, poor Chippy :( Do they think he will ever become sound? There is always hope! Has he got a thick sole? I was just lucky that Kitai's hoof grew so well that the sole got nice and thick again!

Hahahaha and how do you think Paris and her will go?! :p Is she ridden?

Uh, mum's arab- Kus- is the most marey horse ever.. She thinks every single gelding is a stallion and squeels.. It drives me crazy!

Stick to the geldings!

How old is Reuben now? He is a quarter horse too yes?

Mum and Duvall had a bit of a run in the other week.. He wanted his dinner NOW and lashed out with his front feet at her and cut her leg... So.. As you can imagine.. Duvall was in alot of trouble, and now she makes him wait a few minutes and she holds a lunging whip until he waits...

Naughty boy :p She wants me to break him in over the holidays  Not sure if i am game enough for him hahaha

Well.. In the 30-40cm round.. I think Klaatu is going to win... Because Kyros can't do baby jumps HAHA

He is so lazy... That when he does anything smaller than 50cm.. He thinks it isn't a jump... and he won't bother to lift his back legs haha

Klaatu hates to touch a single pole, so he will jump clear.. and Kitai might do a refusal because he has never done a full course before..

But Kyros will be a trooper through the higher rounds! :D

Hey, Robin! Loving these updates on the three K's! And Wendy had me laughing because I was thinking something similar: The return of the Headless Horsewoman! Hahaha!

Stop the decapitations and show off that pretty face of yours! And if your jumping face really is as funny as you claim, well, rest assured that we'll all be laughing with you, not at you. Lol!

It really is amazing to see Kitai now, considering all that he has been through. Your love for all of your animals shows in the passionate way that you write about them. I'd wish luck in your upcoming competitions, but those magnificent horses most certainly do not need it. And neither, I wager, does their "funny faced" rider! Hahaha!

Don't just stop at pics for those competitions, Tab. Bring on some video!
