DYH Amazon, Freddie.
Hey all, I haven't posted in awhile. Back in November I bought a DYH Amazon who was hatched in March. Needless to say I've been busy with him. I take Freddie out of his cage every day and he usually (except when he is stubborn!) steps up each and every time. He will spend time on his perch outside of the cage while I'm on the computer and will go into the shower by himself and let me turn on the water. He's also learned 4 new words since he's been here.

My question is, what is next? I still can't touch anywhere on him other than his beak and his feet. I want to teach him tricks but don't want to push him too fast and take a step backwards.

What do you guys think?

So you got Freddie when he was 8 months old. Was he handled regularly (patted) before he came to you? You've only had him 2 months, so it may take a while longer before he feels comfortable enough for you to start the touchy-feely thing. :) Has he ever lowered his head, of fluffed up his head feathers? When he does that, it's an indicationn he wants his neck or head rubbed/scratched. Most Amazons "start off" with that kind of affection. Just be careful, if his eyes are pinning and his tail if flaring, then he doesn't want scritches, but he's agitated ;)

As for trick training, I'm sorry, I can't help. :o

The person who raised him said that he was. I mean, I can take him out and he will sit with me and even take a shower with me but he won't let me touch his head, back or chest. I wanted to start teaching him tricks, but I figured it would be hard without being able to touch him.
