The size of 'zons..

.. just wondering here..what is the "biggest" and 'smallest" of the 'zon family? Not knowing the specifics here.. Like Amy <BF> was 482g's..and Marks "Sally"...Kiwi..Salty..Mr Biggles.. I forget what type of Amazons they are..

Amoung the most Commons Zons in US pet trade, Mealy up to 1000 grams ,600-850 is common. Napes are next at about 500-800 grams, I have some that weigh 800 or more. WFA are about the smallest 250 grams. Most of the others are in the 350 to 500 gram class.

Our Double Yellow Headed Amazon (DYH Amazon) pulls in at 515 g. And, that would be just south of average.

My Buddy, a green cheek Amazon (Mexican Redhead) is one of the smaller zons and he averages about 270 grams. He may be small but his bite isn't, lol.

1000g's for a mealy?? WOW...and Amys doc said she was "hefty" lol

Kiwi is a Panama (Yellow Front).

Sally is a red lored.

Lila is a Lilac Crowned.

Mine range in size from about 375 to around 450 grams. My LCA is the smallest. Kiwi is actually now the largest. And she's by far my best talker. She actually has a vocabulary that's on par with my CAG already!

I've seen some pretty big mealies... 750-800-ish. They tend to be pretty docile too.

Kiwi is about 420 grams. My moms DYH is around 550 I think (she's a big girl!) and her GCA is around 350 I think (he's pretty small).

My Cuban Amazon I had (mature female) was about 220 grams. About the size of the White Fronted that I have seen. Small Amazons. My Pionus outweighs her by about 40 grams!

Salty averages around 275gr, and I have read on here someones Yellow Shoulder Amazon is 320gr, which is closer to what the published numbers are for that speciecs.
I have seen a few Mealy Amazons, they are noticeably bigger then any DYHA or YNA I've seen. Hurrah for the little guys !!!

Millie, blue front is around 320g. She looks and feels small. But is healthy and eats a whole heap. She is also very active.

Mr Biggles is 198•5 grams. He is a White Fronted Amazon and they are the smallest speecies of Amazon.
