Has anybody seen this documentary? It's amazing!

Wild cherry headed conurs in LA and the man studying them.

Does anyone know any other really good parrot documentaries?

Sorry, SAN FRANCISCO! (don't blame me, I'm Canadian XD)

It's wild parrots in San Fransisco not LA XD

I've seen them flying around before they're really cool, and protected also which is amazing considering they're naturalized(non native).

They are only protected because Mark didn't want the public feeding the parrots and in turn trying to capture them as pets... which is apparently what some idiots have been doing. That, and feeding the parrots makes the parks messier...

The only pets from the flock that can be had as pets are those that find their way to Mickaboo and can't be released...
Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue

I first read the book after I wont it at a raffle in 2003 (?) at a bird expo. In 2004, I took a trip to Hawaii (from San Francisco, of course!) and hoped to see a flock of wild mitred conures on Maui. Unfortunately, didn't get to see them. When I came back, I saw the movie in theaters! After having read the book and knowing what the movie was about, I cried as soon as it started!

Left the theaters, heard something familiar, rolled down the windows... I could hear the flock! So of course, I had to go and visit them! They were roosting at a nearby park (this was prior to the public feeding them). Had an old/crappy camera, so what shots I did get were horrible...

I've gone back a couple times since (even adopted a mitred conure from a couple who live in the area back in 2006) which have allowed me to visit and feed the flock! No photos of me feeding them, unless you count the images I took of a plucked cherry head (probably an escaped pet) eating from my hand!

Later bought the movie, Mark Bittner came and talked about the birds at my local bird club, and we even went and watched the movie again in theaters! And yes, I cried that time, too!

I know of other videos of parrots, but not necessarily documentaries.

DVDs and Videos

Bird video tapes and parrot DVDs from Avian Publications. Bird videos and parrot DVDs about the keeping, care, and breeding of parrots and other birds.

I think the plucked one may have been Scrapperella!

I know for sure that two in the flock were pluckers, and I think there was a third? It's very possible it was her!

I'm really curious about the ones with extensive red heads! Hybrids? Too much inbreeding? Or what? It's been a long time since I've seen the flock now, so I don't know what a lot of the chicks look like, except the ones that end up at Mickaboo.
