thinking of getting cockatiel

I was thinking of getting a cockatiel but i am new to this whole thing and i was just wondering if anyone could give me advice on cage size dietary needs or anything like that. All who help and respond thank you

A quarter of an inch to half a inch is fine for bar spacing! Their life span can actually last for more then 25 years if properly cared for! I've known people that had them for more then 25 years. They're really wonderful birds to have around. IF you get boys while young you can teach them all kinds of songs they will sing. Cockatiels are wonderful birds. I am actually on my fifth one. I also feed mine cilantro, kale and bok choi as a snack. At first he was not to keen on veggies but with time and patience he now gobbles up his greens.

Cockatiels are great beginner birds ! I think the size of the cage depends on how much time it is going to spend outside. If you have a job and your not at home most of the day then I think a large cage would be nice for them to entertain themselves in, if you are a house wife or do work from home and are able to take them out the whole day then you could get a cage slightly smaller. Cockatiels, like cockatoos show they're emotions and feelings by theyre crests so once you get the idea on which way or direction the crest is or moving it is easier to tell when your tiel is going to bite, is happy, or in a bad mood

Just a heads up, make sure you don't give leaves, seeds or sprouts from the tomato or potatoes. those can be toxic for your bird.
