Is so stubborn when it comes to treating her shell rot.....

Has anyone else had this problem where a pet's illness JUST WON'T GO AWAY???

Cuz this girl has had shell rot for six months....

I know nothing about turtles. But I'm so sorry about this girl and I hope she is fine

She will hopefully be ok! Shell rot isn't a major thing, and can be hard to treat for good, so I'm not to worried!

I don’t know much about turtle-keeping. I’ve attached a video about how to treat shell rot, but prevention seems to be important: having a heat source and place to crawl up and dry especially for semi-aquatic species. Hopes this helps!

I cannot tell you how many times I have watched that video!

Her tank setup is correct, basking spot with heat, uvb, everything

Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! So, I happen to have some expertise in human wound care, and before that, a degree in zoology. I suppose this issue would be analogous to a person with a chronic nail infection. This type of thing in a thick carapace takes a while to treat topically:

So:
1. Daily gentle debridement until infection gone, and twice daily application of Betadine. Debridement type depends on how deep the infection goes: if very superficial, then may be done with gauze or fine grit sand paper. If deeper, will need supervision of an exotic vet. Allow to dry under lamp. May also apply a thin layer of neosporin (antibacterial) and over-the-counter lamisil (anti fungal). Topical use should be safe in turtles (see article below).

2. it is important that the the turtle tank water has constant charcoal filtration. This does 3 vital things: 1. binds nitrogen waste 2. Keeps bacterial load in the water to a minimum 3. Fountain effect oxygenates water inhibiting anaerobic growth. Of course, as you already know, change water often too.

Ok. No matter what, your turtle is quite handsome and you’ve done an amazing job!

BGKJBDKZV.NDZVJ I LOVE YOUR RES SO MUCHHH
HOW IS SO TAME?--
If you give good intentions, you get good intentions. This is a rule I use with every living being I meet.

Update:
Gave her some neosporin on her shell, she seems to be doing better. I am keeping my eyes peeled for signs of septicemia, as she has had shell rot for 6 months on and off.

She seems to be doing better, so I hope for the best!

BRUH I SPOIL IT ROTTEN
I EVEN TAKE IT OUT WITH ME IN THE GARDEN AFTER IT RAINS
IT HATES ME SO MUCH WHY? I DONT KNOW
Some turtles are just like that, but turtles aren't exactly cuddly. Here are some tips to tame your turtle more:

1. Hold it above you, this makes them feel safer and more in control
2. Train it to come to you to get it's food (in the tank ofc). This is how I trained my turtle.

That's all, but just keep in mind that July had been hissing and trying to bite me just moments before, so she might not be as tame as you think!
