So my birds were having a really hard time today in terms of hormones. They were really frustrated, and screaming constantly. They would not leave the window, and I thought that may have something to do with it, so I closed the curtains. BAM, instant (well, almost instant) change in behavior. I think their hormones were in part being triggered by SEEING that it was spring. They are not being too hormonal, as long as the windows are covered.

Point is, if your bird is being hormonal and they have a ton of access to natural light, try blocking it off! It's worked for my birds, so it may work for yours!

you’re quite correct. Light regulates so much of behavior, sleep, metabolism, hormones in birds and in people. When we didn’t have artificial light but obeyed sunlight people had fewer metabolism issues and obesity.
