(Pending adoption) Paco - 25yo CAG
I just had to share my excitement and nervousness that this afternoon, Paco, a 25yo grey being rehomed by his one and only owner, will be joining our family. I am over the moon excited for our family, and sad for his current owner who is giving up her baby of 25 years!!!! I will live every day to give Paco everything he deserves as such a noble and intelligent creature and hopes he realizes quickly that he is loved and will always be taken care of. I can’t wait to introduce him to all of you!!! Please keep us in your thoughts today for a smooth transition and for him to begin adjusting as well as can be expected.

Exciting time for you guys! Early congratulations. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Of course, we all want pictures :-)

Congrats, this is very exciting! Please post pictures when you can and yes, keep us posted.

Oooohhhhhh!!! The best!!!

And best wishes!!!

My dearly departed Congo Grey was Tonto, and he was a pisser, although a 1-person bird. Gradually, slowly, and calmly introduce your guy to each member of the family SEPARATELY. Don’t rush him all at once.

I am sure you must be fit to be tied.

Just take thing slow and let the bird set the pace.

Ohhh waiting for an update on the new FID! It's gothchya day!

Thank you to everyone for your excitement and support. It’s been 5 hours and in my opinion I think it’s going GREAT! He decided he didn’t want to step up after his former mama left but that’s ok. He’s been choosing to hang out outside his cage and is very interactive with his talking and sounds. He’s been very inquisitive about everything going on around him in a good way. He’s allowing us to give him a kiss on the beak which is huge in my opinion. He literally made exorcist sounds when seeing our 2 big dogs for the first time which put me into a fit of laughter and freaked the hell out of my 18yo daughter. But the dogs have calmed down and Paco seems much more patient with them now. Tomorrow we are hopeful he will play on his new cage. The one he came with is in much worse shape than I originally thought. We’ll see. It’ll be on his terms with a lot of encouragement and bribes in hopes it’s not a big deal to him at all. It’s been incredibly fascinating to listen to and watch a little snapshot of his past 25 years on this earth. So happy with this first day. It went sooooo much better than it could have. Here’s hoping tomorrow brings more new things. And here’s some pictures I snapped tonight.

Yes.....we’re going with almonds but this was a familiar treat so we allowed it for stressful transition day.

I understand,I would too.
You can try popcorn.

What kind of popcorn do you get? Everything in the store has tons of salt, flavoring or other stuff. Is there an acceptable kind of pre-popped that is on store shelves somewhere?

Welcome home Paco! A great sign he is interacting!

Popular treats include bits of almonds, walnuts, sparing use of sunflower seeds, plain Cheerios. (not honey-nut, chocolate, or specialty flavors)

I think Paco is beautiful.

Welcome home Paco, Happy Gotcha Day :)
