So I thought Roxy stopped toe-tapping, but then I discovered something. She only does it during the night and first thing in the morning! She did not do it all day yesterday but started again at night. I called and spoke to my vet. He said that he was not going to take blood again right away because we just took blood in august and everything was fine. He gave me a prescription for a calcium supplement, because 90% of the time calcium deficiency is the problem. This bothers me because I know that she needs calcium, and I make sure to give her a hard boiled egg with the shell at least once a week. I guess it's not enough. :/ Anyways, if it does not go away by the weekend, I have to bring her in.

That's usually when they tap -- when resting. Watch to see if it's decreasing. Is it both feet or one foot? If it is decreasing a bit each day I would let it subside. Magnesium may be better. PM me for details.

This is the first Im hearing about toe-tapping, time to learn more. Kudos to you for taking care of it right away! Im sure it will all work out once the blood tests are in. Please keep us posted!

I wonder, do other species of parrots toe tap? I've only ever heard it mentioned as an Eclectus thing.

I have heard of other species toe tapping, but it's an extremely rare occurrence. It's mostly an ekkie thing.

Providing calcium to a bird that may be deficient in other areas may not correct the calcium deficiency.

Have you changed her diet any? Different pellets, different fresh foods? Or is she still eating the Zupreem?

Nope, did not change anything at all. I give her all fresh food. She stopped tapping again the day that I called the vet, and this was before I even gave her the calcium supplement. So I have no idea what it was...I am still giving her the supplements anyway, and luckily it has not come back. When she was doing it, it was mainly the right foot. Then I thought I saw a slight tap in the left foot, which is why i called the vet.
