I am not an expert, but have had my CAG for 25 years. Birds scare easily with anything new to them, including us.
Years ago I learned that the vacuum was a scary feature. So, whenever I brought it out, I would begin to talk with the bird, whistle, and hold its attention while I set it up.
Then, when I turned it on, I would whistle, sing, and dance. Today, whenever she sees it coming she begins to swing away and whistle. Hope this helps.
Even a suitcase can scare them. Anything large.
