I am sure that there's a post of this somewhere in this great place. But cant find it.

We are wanting to teach our GCC, Sassy to talk & do tricks. How do we go about this? We got her to do the clicking sound and when we / she kisses she'll do alittle click sound (u got to hear it, she melts your heart!). But we cant figure out how to get her to say atleast hi! We've been repeating it several times and she just looks around like to say, how do I get out of this? We'll still love her either way, but just curious.

Thanks in advance.:green1:

Time, Consistency & Reinforcement.
1. Give her time to pick up some commonly used phrases. It's a natural process, but it does take some time for them to start mimicking words/sounds.
2. Be consistent. Repeat the desired phrase several times each day when you talk to your bird. Using an enthusiastic, exaggerated tone helps!
3. Reinforce her (act really excited, give her kisses or treats, etc) when she does start to pick it up, so that she will be more likely to do it again in the future.

It took our little guy a month or two to start talking. It began with a high pitched and scratchy "Give me kiss!" Three to four months later, his voice has gotten more clear and recognizable. He's now starting to pick up on "I love you." He gives kisses, makes kissing sounds, and also mimics me when I sneeze, lol.

youtube and books would be your best guide ~~ ^^

Food! Find a fav food and it will work for sure. I just taught my GCC to spin around my finger when I say "upside down". It's awesome, I'll post a vid.

Ahyoo, talking is just repartition. You'll need to work out your birds moods first. They need to be in the mood to make noise, when they are, start saying the word you want to teach them a lot. You should say this work to your bird very often. You'll probably find that the bird will just "cheep" the syllable first, then the words will become clearer with time.

theparrotforum.com is run by a fella that is big time into training his parrots. He has a lot of videos and the forum is pretty active. Take a look there, from there you can get darn near everything you need.
