Hi,
I'm Emily. Married, 2 kids. We have a Green Cheeked Conure named Trixie who's approximately 1 1/2yrs of age. She's been with us for 8 months and we adore her. She may be a boy, we're not sure.
Very soon, we will be bringing home a baby Sun Conure. His/her DNA tests are supposed to be in early next week. If he's a boy, then his name will be Apollo. For a girl, Sunni.
This is my favorite parrot forum, thus far and I love reading all the wonderful threads and having access to a wealth of information. I finally found other people who also have bird poop on their shirt, lol.

Hello! (And yes I do have bird poop on my shirt, lol ;))

Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes we all get bird poop on our shirts . welcome to the club:D

Welcome to the forum! Green cheeks sure are adorable!!!!

Since you don't know the sex of Trixie, it would be a good idea to have her sexed. If you end up with two conures of the opposite sex, they could hybridize in the future... just to give you a heads up on that!

Monica, Oh my gosh...I hadn't even thought of hybridization, yikes! Trixie hasn't been DNA sexed. I definitely don't want babies on my hands.

I'm planning on separate cages and slowly over the next few months, getting them to interact with each other closely under my close supervision. Breeding would only take a few seconds...Oy!

Looks like DNA testing is in Trixie's near future. Thanks, Monica ;)

Welcome! And I doubted the last thing you'd want to happen is to be told that they can't hybridize and they do... it's ended up with a lot of very surprised owners! LOL

I'm sure you'll do fine though! Sounds like you are quite excited to bring home a sun!
