Tumor/Growth on Lovebird's beak.. GRAPHIC IMAGES!

Neoplasma, especially carcinomas,sarcomas & osteosacomas, can produce beak deformities. These tumors produce overgrowth of the beak, necrosis, peeling, cracking, irregular shorting, & elevation of the beak cuticle from the underlining jaw.
Most tumors causing beak deformity are malignant & should be treated by euthanasia. These tumors need to be differentiated from bacterial or fungal granulomas by biopsy & also from deformity, fractures of the beak or intralaminal hemorrage where there is little or no bleeding. Some beak tumors may be treated by cautery or cryosurgery.

i was hoping that someone had seen something similar to this to be able to recognize what it is?
Since there was a hole before this growth, it may not be a tumor but some kind of skin growth or something that oozed out of the hole and got hard and nasty. If it was an infection the bird would be dead by now after all thi years i assume.
I am wondering if this growth could just be cut.. Or cleaned out, but then again it might be a being tumor with vessels ..
Thats why I posted the pictures to see if someone could identify the growth and offer a possible solution. If this was malign the bird would have been dead after all this years..

To be honest we are not Avian Vets & can't comment on the treatment for your bird. I think if it were mine it would have seen a Vet years ago. At least then you would have know what you were dealing with.
If the condition keeps getting worse & keeps increasing in size you are going to have to consider a trip to a Vet Clinic.

I would definitely have seen a vet many years ago...Neglect comes to mind.. If I couldn't afford to take my animal to a vet, and it was obviously very ill, I would have looked for a recue or person, who would be able to deal with it...

Since i realize i will NOT get ANY help here on this forum and only judgment from strangers who have no clue as to what the situation is (which is far from neglect) but decide to make comments anyway, i deleted the post and pictures... Would have should have does not help .. But i guess you just wanted to add your judgmental comment for your own enjoyment.

I think you're taking this a little harshly. When a bird has a growth coming out of it's face as severe as that one does, it seems like it would be expected that people are going to suggest that the bird is taken to the vet. Pedro gave you some good advice as well, but in the end you are asking for medical advice from people that are not qualified to give it. If it was me, I understand that sometimes money is tight and sometimes things come up that you just don't have the money for, but when that happens you must look towards the best interest of the bird and maybe try to find a bird rescue that could take the bird and get it the medical attention it needs.
I understand that this isn't your bird and you are going out of your way to find someway to help and that is very commendable of you. You could have saw that the bird needed help, ignored it and went on with your day as many others would have. If the family cannot afford to have the bird vetted, I would strongly urge you to try and get them to consider relinquishing him to a person or organization that could help the little guy.

I have to agree that people were just trying to help. I am of the belief that my animals are my children. I wouldn't not take my child to the doctor if he/she was ill even though coming up with the money to pay for the care would be a problem. I'd just do it anyway. What that bird has isn't something a bird owner can advise on. None of us has the expertise and that's why they are suggesting taking the bird into the vet. I have to be honest, I'm clueless about what that is and what it needs to be treated despite owning many, many animals in my life.
I don't think his owners can treat it themselves. However, if the bird is otherwise healthy and happy I suppose there's no reason why it can't just enjoy what's left of it's life. I have 2 half blind horses and I've had one that was completely blind. I've had many other animals with handicaps and health issues. Some of those were treated by the vet because they could be. Things like blindness aren't curable though. That particular blind horse did manage to live just fine for 30 years. She was also absolutely the best horse you can imagine for beginning riders and children.
Tomorrow I'll be facing some massive vet bills myself for my cat. She has been vomiting since last Thursday. She saw the vet Monday, was doing better and we thought maybe she ate a bug or something. Well, she's been sick again all day today so now it's time for tests and X rays. This is not a good time for a big vet bill, but what can I do? She's one of my best friends.

I didn't see the pictures, and I don't know if you are the owner, or if someone else is; but when in doubt, take your pet to the vet, or find it a home that will! Would you keep a child from a doctor, because you don't want to pay for it? Besides, most vets are happy to take a payment plan.
I didn't see the picture, so I don't know what it is, but it sounds like it could be a tumor or an abscess. If it's a benign tumor, it can still cause problems, like deformities, crowding out organs, etc.
Please try not to be offended by the other user's responses. They are just thinking of the bird's best interest. Has the bird seen a vet?

It looks like an abcess, but it could have been some kind of tumor.
As for my cat because she doesn't seem that sick, no tests or X rays yet. She just got some nausea medicine and it was only $32. I hope it helps and she doesn't have something drastic.

Thanks, I sure hope she is, too. She has gotten sick again once this afternoon. I really wish I knew what was going on with her.

It's unfortunate that so many of the birds were neglected so badly, but that was fascinating! I am fascinated by pathology of most kinds.
