Parrots
2 Alexandrine parrots
Hi all,

Needing advice on something - I have a pair of alexandrine parrots and around mid September, my female had laid 5 eggs and has been sitting on them since. I thought it was odd that after 1 month, the eggs haven't hatched especially since the incubation period is generally 26 days so I assume the eggs are a dud.

I took them out not too long ago and when I put them under a light, I can some see some dark/orange spots although I'm not entirely too sure what this actually is.

Any advice on what to do? I assume I'd need to dispose of the eggs and remove the breeding box but I feel bad removing them as my bub starts to panic and yell out.

P.S - I adopted them in January this year from someone who no longer wanted them, I believe the my bubs are just over 2 years old.

Maybe you could take a look at fertile eggs being candled online and compare what you see (to your birds eggs).

They are likely not fertile but if mom didn’t sit tight at the beginning they might not be on schedule developmentally.
