Update on getting Baby Grey!

Hello.

I am very excited to share that the breeder that was my #1 choice has 6 babies right now. They are currently in the nest being cared for by their parents (so no pictures, yet).

I am very excited to have found this out, and will get the contract for reserving one of the babies by email soon.

As soon as I get pictures of the babies (although I will only be purchasing one) I will post them here, especially when it is clear which one will be mine.


I am also trying out the Poll feature, as I am not sure of what name is better:
Andy or Tag

Let me know which one you think sounds better! Keep in mind that my Jardines name is Sammy.

Tag is what we Timneh African Grey the other is Cag, Congo African Grey, so Tag seems kinda confusing for a grey parrot name, in my book anyway...

One of my ex-neighbours got a puppy every year for 3 years in a row (yes, he was nuts, collected all the colourvariations of a breed just for fun) and he never got them to listen to him, because he gave them names that sounded (vowelwise) the same.
And of course those are the ones that get heard when you call for them...al we ever heard was "oooooooo-eh"

Finally he got his arse kicked by a vet for confusing his dogs that way.
(And changed their names -> happy dogs)

Of course... parrots are a lot brighter than dogs.


(If it were up to me I would not have named my parrots the way they are either. Also too close together, so I always have to take special care. I have an a-(p)-eeee and an aaaaaaa-(p)-eeee.)

LOL Tag for a CAG is indeed funny- I almost missed it because in general we just call the TAGs Timneys here, african greys are always CAGs (unless you discuss species- we know they are both greys from africa of course)

Tag just means "day" in german

(Tag und nacht = day and night)

Since day and grey sound a bit similar...
(I always read "taagh" when I see Tag not "teee aiii gheee" )

I always look at a bird first- maybe the bird will look like a real "Susan" after all.
It is fun to think of names of course, but then you have to pick a bird that fits the name ...

My last remaining corydoras got a name yesterday by one of my friends, he kept referring to "greeny" (she is a greenstripe/ greenlaser whatever name they sell them these days).
So that was that...

Yep. That is why TAG is such a funny name for a CAG. At least I think it is (maybe my humor is immature but something about naming animals names that makes you think that they will look different makes me laugh).

If we ever get another dog, we'll get another yellow lab and name it "Laku" (swedish nickname for liquorice, which is funny (IMO) because people will think that its a black lab and not a yellow one).

Thats a bundle of cuteness.
Having a German background I understand tag as in guten tag “good morning “ is pronounced with a long a sound not as in American English tag (a game of tag).
Seeing it written (typed in this case) most people will be pronuncing it incorrectly as with a short a sound.
I still vote for Andy.

I wont be able to, unfortunately. I will be able to see them on video and ask for a specific baby but because driving there to see him would take about 2 days, I cant go there before picking him up.
