Hello Everyone,

I'm back and updating you folks on Hubby's condition. So I took him to the vet and the vet said that Hubby's foot isn't fractured just bruised really bad from his foot to his chest. It looked like he either fell from the planter (from the really bad caretaker I left him with, that left him outside-alone!) or that he was attacked by another bird. If it was a cat he could've been dead! So thank God for that!

Anyways his right foot is not as swollen as before, but now it's starting to stiffen up, and puss is coming out. I have been giving him the liquid emulsion, that has the vitamins and antibiotics the vet gave me, but is this normal? I'm going to be calling the vet's office again today.

Hubby thanks all of you for your support and concern

Mahalo & Aloha from Kauai! :rainbow1:

Lovebirds forever!!! hehehe

I am so relieved the Hubby's injury was diagnosed
OMG you can count your lucky stars, and NOT the caretaker
Pray Hubby recover is quick and successful

I had to do a double take on this thread I thought your were talking about your husband, not you bird:D. If you are seeing puss draining I would still call the vet again and see if he wants you to do any direct wound care besides the liquid meds. It won't hurt to ask and you will feel better. Just tell him the same thing that the swelling is going down but that the wound is draining puss and is stiff.

Hubby says Aloha from Kauai!

Hey everyone Hubby says Alllloooohhhaaaa!!!!

I came back from taking hubby to the vet, and his foot is doing well, he's even starting to put weight on it too!!! He's slowly going back to his old self and chirping more. I am so happy and relieved that my baby is okay.:)

I owe this bird my life because he has saved mine, and has kept me out of trouble many, many times. Hehehehe:D

The vet just increased his dose of antibiotics, and I have been rinsing the raw leg with iodine that the vet gave me. And before he goes to bed, I have been rubbing this ointment on his foot and leg and it is doing wonders for him. It's an organic ointment that I got from the natural foods store. It's called country comfort. I have attached a photo of it too.

Thank you all for following hubby's status, and it's nice to know that there are other bird lovers out there. Since, here in Kauai, everyone is canine crazy:eek:. That's cool :cool:and all but, I still rather have lovebirds because they are beautiful and cute. :rainbow1:
