Hi All!

I am very pleased to announce that Percy the Bloodthirsty biter has changed into Percy the Cuddlebunny :D. I can't remember when last I received an actual bite. Thanks so much for all the advice and support you all gave me in those horrible, scary first few months!

These days, Percy still bites others (he's a rebel ;)) but I don't get bitten - I get beak-buts! Yup, he buts me with his beak to tell me he's upset! Even when he's beak is open, he doesn't bite but just bumps me with it. No, don't ask how I trained him to do this, I didn't. He just came up with this all by himself. It is too cute :)

And here is some gratuitous Percy-ness for your enjoyment :

Dancing on the plates in the crockery cupboard...

Giving me the evil eye for daring to disturb him in his box - this is the toy rotation box I keep in a corner of his window. He's decided that the toys that sucked soooo much when they were in the cage or on the gym, are super fun here in the box and he hates being "spied on" or interrupted when he's rooting around in there :o

And, finally - catching some sun with Mom. With winter here, we love grabbing some sun when it is warm enough out. He loves these walks in the garden and talks to all the trees and sasses all the "scarybirds" (mostly doves and sparrows LOL!) that fly by ;). When they fly by his window, he's terrified by them but perched on mom's shoulder, he can take on the world :D

Percy is a handsome boy. I'm happy to hear that he's become such a cuddlebunny. :)

I love the idea of a toy rotation box. I usually hang the untouched toys in a different area of the house. Sometimes just a new location will make them interesting.

Percy is so pretty. Glad he has gone from bloodthirsty to cuddle bug.

That's wonderful news!!!! I'm glad he's being much better with you now. :)

I am so happy to read this! The beak butt sounds very cute, how did you train him to do that? :P hehe just kidding

Beautiful Percy. Lovely photos. I don't believe for a second that he could be blood thirsty. :)

Cuddle Bug ?? You must be mistaken. Not Percy. LOL Funny how it is when your #1.

That is such awesome news, Michelle! You should pat yourself on the back with a now unbloodied hand for all your hard work that has paid off;)
He just gets more beautiful all the time, as well!

On a side note, how is your leg???

He is beautiful! Does he know you shared his soft and sweet side??

That is so awesome... I have been dealing with similar issues with Sammy, but not toward me. Loves me dearly, my husband on the other hand, well....... not good!

I wanted to ask about the 2nd pic.....

I have never heard of that yet.... of course im kinda new at shopping for fids..lol
I hope to find something that Sammy will have interest in. may try that.
what can ya tell me about bottlebrush buds?

thanks

Terry - its feels a lot better, thanks. However, the pattern of bruising it has developed, changes daily to become more sexy and alluring AND to send my poor old mom into an even bigger frenzy! The poor dear clucked around me like a prize winning hen while I was off work :D. Here are 2 pics of the damage...

Dreamin Scaw - bottlebrush is a fabulous plant for parrots and I love using it. The wood is very hard and makes great perches, it also has a rough outer layer that can be pulled off (great fun for Percy). The flowers and buds are edible but Percy only eats the young buds. The piece in the pic is from a tree that had bigger, tougher buds and all he does with that is pull them off and drop them...and then he nibbles the stick that remains. I tried to find some info links for you but my stupid phone is being willfull :(

I remember when you were thinking of giving up on Percy. So glad you didn't and it all turned around so well. It's an inspiration for all the new owners who are feeling discouraged.

Oh Michelle, your poor leg looked so painful! It is no wonder your Mom was so worried about you:(
I am so glad to hear it is feeling better now:)

Congrats! Zoro has also improved a fair bit on his nippiness for me. No shoulders yet though...

Awww that's wonderful news your patience and dedication with Percy has definitely been rewarded. I m very happy he has transformed into Percy the cuddle bug :). Well done mum :)
