vet is not available for another 6 hours

and he might dehydrate:(

Will he drink Water... If not, try giving him a little bit on a spoon!! Are you taking him to the vet later?

Sorry about your bird, that is awful
If you are not able to get the bird to a vet soon, try an on-line vet.
Please keep us updated.

yes he is drinking water from my hand... so i have offered water with electrolytes in it....

meanwhile i talked to vet and updated him about current conditions he has advised

doxycycline powder antibiotic
and
vidaylin drop for apatite

he said give him a dose of it and then come to my clinic in evening

Glad you managed to talk to a vet, sounds like good advice.

Prayers for you and your bird .
Please keep us posted.

Poor bird! good thing you are trying all your resources to keep the cockatoo healthy.

good luck and my prayers are with you. I hope your chitu recovers very soon!

just came back from vet clinic.. chitu is with him for next 24 hours ... he says next 24 hours are very sensitive for him as lot of dehydration made him so weak that he was struggling to keep himself balanced

vet said he is so weak that we can't give him any antibiotic (for bacterial infections) until he get some strength through some food ... alas no availability of recovery formula here in pakistan ... he is sticking to some mash mix he has for such emergency conditions. he has started to hand feed him along some medicine to make him stop vomiting and watery poop ...

i came back home when chitu was trying to have some millet mix by himself but my soul n mind is still there ...

he needs lot of prayers i am so worried ... i don't want to loose him even in two days he made me feel that i know him from a quite long time and he is a part of me.

please pray for him ... i will update you all with progress ... all parrot lovers please pray for him hi is in very critical condition and i don't even want to think about loosing him ... he is just a baby ...

I am praying for you!! Fingers crossed he will be ok! We will wait to hear from you to see how he is doing!

incognito, i have been fowolling your posts on your Too & i have been wondering if Your Vet has tested for Beak & Feather disease. The dirty feathers & now this illness. The symptoms are so like the little corella i had that I lost from PBFD. I so hope i am wrong & your little guy recovers.

as far i know he checked his beak, feather (whole general check up was done) but i will talk to him about this first thing in the morning

he said to me that its bacterial infections related to Gastritis

as u already read that i adopted him couple of days ago and he was messy and dirty. i thought by giving him a nice shower in luke warm water will make feel fresh then this happen ... i thought it was my mistake to give him shower he might have gotten sick from it(i was feeling guilty). but vet assured me that it nothing relates to bathe

Im praying for a speedy recovery and lots more years for the both of you to enjoy together

I am so sorry , I hope he gets better soon. I will keep him in my prayers.

Vet would have to do blood works or even a feather to have the bird tested for PBFD. Either way it maybe wise to keep him away from your other birds.
