Hi, i just joined this forum, with troubling questions,

Nearly a year ago, i got a gift of a Alexandrine parrot baby:green:, quite young. i was really novice about parrot keeping, it was not weaned, thats why i handfeeded him. but it was like a feeding machine, he was never satisfied, and i feeded him until his stomach is totally full, and then he just feels uncomfortable, at last one morning, i wake up to find that he is vomiting. Before i can take him to the vet, he was dead, i was really shocked:17: ............

But i am now going to bring another Alexandrine baby home, but i didn't want any risks and wanted to know as more as i can.........So please help me, and give me some info about what to feed him, how much, and other facts like his requirements:confused:. I will be very grateful to all of you!!!!!

Please, if you are unsure about handfeeding, do not take him home. How old is this baby?

You really should wait until the birdy is weaned. There are many mistakes an in-experienced handfeeder can make. Or even an experienced one. Unless there is some odd situation where you are forced to hand-feed, you should wait until they are weaned to take him home.

Weaned birds do not bond any less with their companion people. As a matter of fact there are some that say weaning your own birdy may HURT your relationship as they see you as a parent and want to leave the nest but can't because you are always around.
