I have alot of birds :) I finally feel "Full". We have had screamers ,pluckers and biters. We have figured things out with them [and are in a good place]. Its funny years ago when I wanted birds they were not easy to get [I live in NY].Now people know that I have birds . I have had 3 people contact me last month about taking there problem birds. I had to say no and they were irritated with me. Which made me annoyed why is it my responsibility cause I love birds? Anyways I thought this would be my new motto until I got this text . It was a Macaw that needed a better home and they knew about me. It was this girls cousin . The bird was kept in a Man cave with not alot of interaction. The guy took in this bird and never touched it . He worked 12 to 15 hrs a day and his family wanted no part of it . The bird lived on a rope ??So I did have a new Macaw cage sitting in a box . Dave was ok with it because he knows how I am with Macaws :) The ones at are house now are a good time. This guy is a Scarlet {so I was up for the challenge]. You know what you here about Scarlets . The original owner was a older woman that had breathing problems and had to give him to this guy. His name is "SlicK"but mentioned the lady and the name "Tia". So who knows what this bird is :) I try to keep there names but I dont think I can do Slick !! I have Boomer and Dingo here and that drives me nuts LOL. For not being touched this bird licks my fngers , holds my hands and got on the floor today and came over for scritches . So I think things are going to be fine :)http://www.parrotforums.com/members/pinkbirdy-albums-belly-picture15719-20151124-161813.jpg

GASP!!!! OMG, Terri, what a STUNNING Scarlet!!!! :smile015: I am THRILLED beyond words that she is with you. She hit the jackpot - no doubt about it!! And I'm fairly sure she knows it as well (hence licking your finger already)!!!!! :D

You have a TRUE heart of gold, and your husband is a saint! (Yup, I'm just a tad bit envious there ;))

I agree, "Slick" doesn't seem so suitable for this pretty baby. But you always come up with THE best names. CONGRATS again!!! :D

Gorgeous!!!!! You and me both with people calling asking to take in birds. I had to tell people no a lot. But IF someone were to give me a Scarlet I would melt cause I've wanted a Scarlet for a very long time although I know about their issues. I would have to kindly talk to the other half to have one though...lol...We're supposed to cut down not add more...So far most of the dusty birds are gone from this house due to my respiratory issues, hopefully I'm able to keep what we've got.

Terri, you have such a huge heart! What a lucky girl she is to have joined your flock. She is stunning!

Terri you definitely scored, you hit the jackpot looks like! Beautiful bird, and sounds like a nice Scarlet too!

No rehome fee either, see sometimes you DO get a good something for free. When I had to rehome my rare and expensive young Slender Billed Too, with nothing at all wrong with her, I gave her to a good home for free.

I admit I do drool over the color of Scarlets. FWIW, they are one of the prettiest parrots in my opinion.

Go Terry! This made my thanksgiving lol.
Now the right thing to do is gift him to me for Christmas. We can talk about that later. Congratulations!

Ripley wants me to tell you that he is HIGHLY offended. :09:

:o Oh no, *hides head in shame* Wendy, will you please tell Mr. Ripley that of course I think he is a gorgeous guy as well, but I bet he doesn't believe me :(. Jk lol ;)

Mikey ,you have got me thinking who is "Dusty" at my house . Its really not the Macaws . I see my Grey and agree with with the tiels. Also my bigger Eleanora Too but not my smaller LS2 , Goffin and Rb2 [weird I think]. We bought expensive air purifiers but I dont think they really do that great of job. I think Scarlets are beautiful too [dont see many people have them].

Terri, I'm late to the party but Congratulations on your beautiful new addition. She's a real beauty and an awfully lucky girl to have landed in your care.

Congratulation from another Scarlet owner...

Beautifull bird !!!

With the excessive dust, no air purifier will help. It's only meant for small amount not for large quantities. No not many have Scarlets, but they are the number one Macaw that I've always wanted.

My Double Yellow Head Amazon is way more dusty then my Scarlet...

We have 4 air purifiers
