1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
hi, so my female society finch kelly, has been sitting in the nest constantly only taking quick breaks for food and water ans ZIP right back to the nest,and i saw an egg yesterday morning!im so exited, shes such a good mom and shes its so fun to watch, especially her mate regis when he gathers nesting material, hes a little clumsy ;) i'll post pics soon :)

I remember when I used to raise finches how tiny their babies are when they first hatch. Just remember they can over populate you with multiple finches in a very short period....
 
i'll be sure to controll the breeding, thank you for pointing that out :). how long should i wait before breeding them again so she can rebuild her strength? also is there anything i should do for the babies, or can they all co-exist in the same cage, theres this female gouldian finch who used to go in the nest untill the society chased her out and the gouldians mate would sometimes steal their nesting material, are they a threat to the chicks?
 
That's a possibility! I would keep an eye on the Gouldian! As soon as the babies are able to leave the nest, you need to remove that nest ASAP! Cause she will have another batch very quickly. You can replace the nest back in after 3 months, BUT how will you find homes for all the finches? There's a ton of Society Finches out there....

It turns out they were infertile, the male is a little old, but they wil be great fosters!
