My 76-day-old cockatiel, brought in half a week ago, has a pretty weak call. She's eating very well and tends to stay about half way up the cage, at the food bowls.

Her feathers are very clean, not scruffy, but her call is weak. From time to time she makes a weak call, and sometimes normal-er ones. She also does not tend to move much, but prefers to eat and sometimes climb.
When around people, she enjoys chewing their hair, and enjoys being scratched, although she initially does not like being taken out from her cage.

She was raised at Golden Cockatoo, a bird-only store.

Is this normal?

Hello !

Sounds like she is young (calling weak)

"she initially does not like being taken out from her cage"

She still settling in to your home, her cage is her protection, it can take some time, give here another week or more

I think I remember you posting about her not moving much and Shirre (Getwozzy) agreed they can be very scared going to a new home

We would LOVE to see Pics of her (or video) :D

Thanks !!

I made a video, as requested.

Awh! What a cute 'tiel! If she is new she is probably just a bit nervous. As she becomes more adjusted to her new home and bonds with you she will likely become louder and more outgoing. Maybe place a few toys that hold treats and have lots of texture to entice her to play more. Also give her lots of attention. Lots of people get frustrated with how shy tiels can be at first and tend to give up. But they are wonderful and cuddly birds when they learn to trust you. I taed mine by taking her in the shower! She loves it and realized I am the one who gives her showers so now she loves me as well! just make sure yours' head doesnt get wet if you do the same :D Good luck with your new little friend!!

Thanks. Are occasional rapid head twitches normal too, though? Whenever we talk a bit loud or "startle" her, she does a rapid head twitch, so.

Well, if you think its worth it you could always put up a video of it and I'm sure people here would weigh in on it
