Weening Rio from seed

Hi this is Max again.

My Dad and I bought some Zupreem yesterday. I wanted to know how old should Rio be when i should start weening off of seeds. also how should i go about it. Thanks. Max.

As long as he is weaned and still not being hand fed I say go for it.

Start off mixing half seed and half pellets. Do that for a week or so, see if he likes the pellets or not. If he does, just keep increasing the pellets and decreasing the seeds until he is eating just pellets.

There's no age for weaning from seeds go ahead and start whenever you're ready! It took Lucy a bit to get off them... but it sure makes me feel better knowing that she is on the pellets now!

I started Rio on Zupreem yesterday. It was pretty much all she ate and left most of her seeds. Cool.

I saw pretty much the same reaction with my daughters 'tiels. Guido has only ever been on a pellet diet as long as I have had him, Kaytee Fruit Blend. My daughters birds though were on a mostly seed diet. When they started mingling with Guid though they found his pellets and went nuts over them. We were able to take the 'tiels off of seed all together, or rather I should say that they took themselves off of seeds all together

Now Im working on getting them to dig in to Zupreem with as much gusto as they do the Kaytee
