For real this time. So, we're adding to our house of re-homes. We're re-homing a 28 year old Goffin, to round out our CAG and Quaker. He plucks as he's got parrot baggage, but we're not concerned.

Just ordered an air purifier as we'll really need it now.

Help??

Good for you and good luck! I'm a selfish bird owner and while I feel for those that need to be rescued, one is enough and I don't want to spoil the relationship I have with her.
Again, thanks!

My mother used to say to me; "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most" :)

Anyone who brings home a cockatoo has either lost their mind or will soon, but welcome to the asylum! Bathroom's that way, coffee pot's that way, and group therapy (the forum here) is always available!

so true...lovingly...

Thanks for the warm welcome. We set up the bird room today so it's been chaos. Bobbi seems good, he's eating and drinking so that's good. Only a few gut wrenching screams. Yeah YouTube doesn't do them justice.

The store we got him from, who does a lot of re-homes, says we have two weeks to see if he's a fit. Well, I'm sure that will got by extremely fast.

Do you know much of Bobbi's history? Has this shop rehomed him more than once?

They haven't. The previous owner's son has been fighiting cancer, and naturaly their priorities shifted. He's been plucking a bit, but this morning he came out of his cage by himself, and he was eating and drinking last night. So the first 12 hours are good.

But my god, that scream. wow.

Goffins have a loud but raspy scream. I much prefer it over the head-splitting pitch of a Sun Conure, lol. Seems you are making good progress at this very early stage!!

The zoo is getting some veggies later today so we'll see how he likes those. It seems he was alowed to drink from a mug, and he tried to drink my coffee. Wasn't happy when I said 'no' and moved the mug.

So far, so good.

Unfortunately Jonesy the goffin I had a few years back, did exactly that. he screamed from sun-up to sundown and then for no known reason turned his tastes towards flesh...MY flesh! After a year or so I re-homed him to a family down the road who still have him and love him. you have to be a certain "type' of person to be a cockatoo person..obviously I am NOT one of those! :o

There is a special place in Heaven for those who take in a rescue parrot. Thanks and welcome.

I have not heard Goffin's- probably seen them a couple of times in zoos but don't recollect their calls. But have seen and heard Suns on many occasions. I don't know how people can put up with their horrendous calls -possibly the beautiful plumage:orange: serves as a compensation but still! No offence! Just my honest thoughts.

Out of three, the Quaker and the Grey make the most noise. Bobbi, is the loudest, but so far it hasn't been an all day thing. He seems to screech when he want's something or is mad. Granted he's only been here a few weeks, but youtube does not do their screams justice.
