What do you think is up with this tiel?

A video of my girlfriend's grandson's bird. What mutation is he and what do you think he's doing here?

GF said he just makes that growling noise, but he doesn't seem to be angry and his beak isn't open so I take it as a non aggressive thing. Possibly he's even trying to talk but just doesn't know how yet? I think they got him at a flea market or something, no telling how he was raised. GF says since they got him all he does is bite and scream but in the last couple days he's started perching on her shoulder and accepting pets, so I'm thinking with just a little bit of work he could be a real nice bird.

Interesting there Wade..doesn't seem the little guy is frightened of anyone or thing,perching on GF's shoulder like that and moving about.
BB "growls" at me from time to time,only when I want him to step up when he is on my shoulder and he doesn't wanna do it,but he doesn't sound anything like that guy .

If it were aggressive wouldnt the crest be up ? It sounds like hehas his own way if comunicating and perhaps even picked up the sound from another bird at the flea market...hes Adorable and looks like he is already getting really friendly

Oh cute lol... he sounds like a baby! Baby tiels make those sounds... strange he is doing it when already weaned though. I like that sound he is making, it sounds cool like a demon of some sort... I know I'm weird

I rather hear that than a screaming bird

I love it when they sing... but not when they scream hehe... thankfully that doesn't happen often thank goodness.

That is exactly what Rose sounds like when she wants dad to feed her.

I dont know how old the bird is but it may not be fully weaned.

I would at least suggest some warmed up bird safe human baby food

If you try the food suggestion and that is no good then it could be one or part of all the other ones?

I would want to remove the possibility of hunger first IMO.
