What does a soft MEW sound mean?

When I call Rich's name, she would bow her head and would make a soft MEW sound like that of a kitten. What does this mean?

Bowing her head is an invitation to scratch her neck & head. If you were a bird, she'd be inviting you to preen her. The soft mewing is a sound of contentment. She obviously loves & trusts you.
