The idea of shipping a bird through an airline sounds to me like it could be very traumatic for the bird. Is this true?

Or is the thinking that maybe a day of airline travel might be better tolerated than a two day road trip?

This is all hypothetical of course - but what do people do who can't find respectable well referenced breeders in their area?

I haven't even started to narrow down breeder choices yet - I'm just asking so I can know if I should even consider shipping as an option or not!

I don't have any experience with shipping birds, but I can imagine that it would be more traumatic than traveling in a car because they'd be alone/handled by lots of strangers, instead of safe in the car with one reassuring person. I can't really say that I would trust anyone to ship a bird for me - dogs are a bit hardier but I'm rather overprotective of birds since they're more fragile and vulnerable creatures.

Shipped in the correct travel box is no stress on the bird what so ever. Breeders ship parrots every day of the week.

I recived some lories a few weeks back & they were in the shipping box for 24 hours. Once unpacked & fed you wouldn't even have known. I would prefer sending a bird by air freight than stress the poor thing out by a long car trip. Just in case you don't know some parrots do get car sick.

I would never do this l value my birds to much and it is strictly collection in person only.
OK it limits my market but would never forgive myself if something happened to one of my birds.

i wouldn't do it either. it must be scary as hell for the birds!

I think the bird would get pretty stressed.
Also, I wouldnt because I'd like to meet my baby before buying it.
